Historical engineering work

SessionM was a customer engagement and loyalty platform that connected interaction data across in-store, online and mobile touchpoints. Mastercard acquired the company in 2019. That acquisition is company history, not an outcome attributed here to our work.

This page documents engineering work completed on the platform; it does not imply that the original product remains available in the same form today.

What we built

We designed and built a data ingestion system for SessionM. The system was responsible for receiving, validating, and processing high volumes of customer interaction data flowing into the platform from multiple sources.

The core challenge was reliability. When you're ingesting data that drives loyalty programs and personalized customer experiences, every missed record or processing delay has a direct business impact. The system needed to handle variable throughput gracefully, maintain data integrity through the entire pipeline, and surface issues quickly when something went wrong.

Processing at volume

The ingestion system we built handled the continuous flow of customer events — purchases, interactions, profile updates — transforming raw input into structured data the platform could act on. We focused on building a pipeline that was resilient to upstream inconsistencies, could recover cleanly from failures, and scaled with the growing data volumes SessionM was processing.

Engineering outcome

The work produced a data-ingestion subsystem designed around validation, recoverability and operational visibility. Public company history records Mastercard's 2019 acquisition of SessionM, but this page does not claim that our contribution caused or determined that transaction.
